MMI: Wonderful organization, wonderful promo
If you live west of the Mississippi, you may have heard of Money Management International (MMI). They're a Houston-based non-profit credit counseling and debt management organization that often works with Consumer Credit Counseling Services to help people in dire financial straits. I happened upon MMI in 2002, when I was teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and had run out of options—or so I thought.
The MMI counselors helped me assess my debt-to-income ratio, ran interference between me and my creditors, and set up a payment plan that, while it didn't make the credit card companies very happy, allowed me to pay off my bills in full over the course of about five years. Had it not been for this organization and its kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable staff, I would have lost everything I own. The debt management process wasn't easy, and sometimes I struggled to get my monthly payment in on time, but MMI saved me from a much worse fate.
While job hunting online, I found this wonderful promotional video from MMI. Of course, the organization is very special to me, but this video is very well done. The voice-over and the word-by-word graphics that parallel the script make a compelling case for the group in about three-and-a-half minutes. Had this video been the first I'd ever heard of MMI, it certainly would have won me over.
If you (or someone you know) are having financial trouble, I hope you'll consider MMI or another non-profit credit counseling group. I learned a lot from the process, and am proud to have completed their program. They can help, even when people feel like they have no more options.

You are an awesome person, Miss Kitty. XO
It is good to hear that there are reputable companies that actually help people!
I love MMI! Thanks to them, my credit cards will be all paid off within the next few months. They have been wonderful and truly helped me get out of the financial mess I was in. I have no idea where I would be today if it weren't for them.
