New Year's Resolutions for 2009 at the Happy Kitten Cottage

Sorry for the delay in posting this, folks—I am so. damn. tired. after all the holiday hustle and bustle. I got another Vitamin B-12 shot today and hope that it will pep me up.

As is our yearly tradition, here are some New Year's Resolutions from the furry four-legged people who allow me to live here at the HKC.

Moo and Elvis plan to spend 2009 lying in more cardboard boxes.

Squirrel plans to be just as disappointed with 2009 as she was with 2008. And 2007.

Or maybe she's just sleepy here. It's hard to tell with Squirrel.

The outdoor kittehs plan to raise just as much hell as ever at supper time.

Hobo Kitty resolves to be even more sweet and loving in 2009.

Graya plans to gain a little weight in '09—she's lost way too much. And I hope she'll resolve to stop licking the fur off her back half, too.

Ernest, too, plans to gain weight in 2009. A lot. Fred will have to wait his turn to put on the pounds.

As for everyone else, it seems as if their only resolution for 2009 is to sleep more. That sounds like a good idea to me.

Emmylou and Dolly? They plan to get out of Mama's spare bedroom just as soon as their stitches are out—although, once they get back outdoors, they sure will miss smoking 'nip, huffing spray paint, and playing with TurboScratcher toys while high.

My New Year's Resolutions aren't very big this year—if I can manage to floss my teeth every day and eat regularly, I'll be doing all right. I'm trying to take things one day at a time so I don't get overwhelmed; the fight against depression is a tough one.

Here's to all of you, E&P readers! May your 2009 be filled with peace, happiness, and love. I'm so very thankful for every one of you.

I think the kittehs have marvelous resolutions! (I especially like the "sleep more" resolution.) I don't make resolutions any more. Now I just try to make this a better place so that there isn't quite so much ugliness. I like your 2009 wishes and want to wish them right back to you. I am very thankful for you and all at the HKC!

Aww, thanks, Sandy! Your non-resolutions sound really good. I'm so glad to have you as my internet friend.

Hi..I can't for the life of me remember which blog led me to another, and another, then to you.

I just had to comment on your cats...you have some that have such beautiful and unusual coloring! We are down to 1 cat and 2 dogs since our morbidly obese, psychotic cat died.

I am thinking 2009 may bring us a buddy for our solo feline, though he seems to be enjoying being the top cat.

I'm thankful for you too, Miss K! I wish you health and plenty of small and large pleasures this 2009. Keep on flossing.

OHN: Thanks for stopping in! I hope you'll blog about your kitteh adventures if you decide to get another one. My Davey is also obese and psychotic, like your late cat, and may have to go live outside at his Grandma's house. [sigh]

Marie: Why thanks! I wish you, too, lots of blessings in the New Year. As to the flossing, my dentist has threatened me with bodily harm if I don't.

I'm so glad to hear you resolving to floss daily! It really really does make a huge difference in the health of your gums -- and apparently in the heart attack and stroke rate too. (People with chronic gingivitis have twice the heart attack rate and three times the stroke rate of those who don't.)
It also gets easier the more you do it, and you get faster at it.
Then you start trying to floss the kittehs' teeth.....:-)

THat's what I hear, KimC--there are plenty of heart attacks and strokes in my family history to want to floss daily. Now, as for flossing the kittehs' teefs...ummm... :-) I'll let you know how well that goes over.

Wow--a resolution to floss everyday might be harder than quitting smoking! Not that I do either. But I really should floss daily.

Your kitties' resolutions are a hoot.

Happy New Year!

My kittehs just wanted you to know that Luna is resolving to hide better at insulin shot time, and Ellora is resolving to kick the butt of the cat she outside on the porch- even though she never goes outside. Momma (said cat on porch) has resolved to attract more boyfriends- and she's already made a good start (and she's fixed!)

Ms. T: Very true. I've heard quitting smoking is one of the toughest things to do. Hopefully flossing will be a little easier. :-) Glad you liked the kittehs' resolutions.

Joeymom: Your four-legged friends are getting off to a rollicking start in '09! :-) That Momma must be one foxy kitteh.

I think you need to take a look behind you. I have been reading your blog for at least 2 years!! now. I am thinking about all the trials, troubles and victories you have had over the last few years.

You were working three part time teaching jobs, and that has become 1 full time professorship. You have passed thru the anger and suffering that goes with sexual abuse and have forgiven and healed.

Those are just two of the things that come to mind when I remember all the entries you have written.

You have much to rejoice over and be thankful for. I think Congratulations are in order.
